The Tree Check app serves as an innovative tool for identifying tree species through a simple photographic input. Users can gain insights into the tree's defining characteristics, as well as interesting details such as its water evaporation rates, the extent of shade it casts, and its cooling effects on urban environments. This application aims to enhance our understanding of the significant role trees play in urban life.

Urban trees face numerous challenges, including limited root space and inadequate access to water. Tree Check empowers users to assess the condition of trees in their vicinity and encourages proactive measures to support their well-being. By visiting a tree and providing it with water, users can unlock educational content about the importance of trees.

The app also features a mapping function that allows users to document the trees they have visited, revisit them, or curate their own tree collections. This presents a unique opportunity to create a compilation of notable trees within one's city, thereby fostering a deeper connection with the local environment.

Developed by a consortium of partners from the LIFE Tree Check project, led by the Czech Environmental Partnership Foundation, this initiative has received financial backing from the EU's LIFE program.
